Chef’s Vision is a monthly meetup event intended to bring the local food entrepreneurship and innovation community together for networking, introduction of new concepts, industry insights, brand development and business expansion. The event is held at Block Eatz in the McKeithan Center on the north campus of Cape Fear Community College.
Block Eatz Catering officially launched in January 2024 and it enables entrepreneurs to experiment with their catering concepts via bookings through Block Eatz.
Food is the foundation of healthy living and the key to building prosperous communities. This begins and ends with entrepreneurs and their commitment to sustaining the food system.
According to research from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), 60% of food businesses fail within their first year of operation. Even more alarming is that 80% of food businesses fail within 5 years of operation. These numbers relate to national trends but should be evaluated with deeper analysis by new founders, business owners, local economic development policy makers and community stakeholders.
